Christopher Rhie is an urban planner, sustainability strategist, and data storyteller who focuses on breakthrough strategies for sustainable development at the neighborhood, campus, and city scales. He is currently an Associate at BuroHappold Engineering.
With a background in public policy, urban design, and development finance, Christopher is an urbanist who reaches across disciplinary boundaries to solve problems through a combination of design, policy, and entrepreneurial interventions. He thrives in team settings and offers exceptional communication skills, particularly with regards to infographics and public presentations.
Christopher previously worked on energy and climate action initiatives at the City of New York and the City of Oakland. Originally from Hartford, CT, Christopher holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Yale University and master's degrees in city planning and real estate development from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is a LEED Accredited Professional (Neighborhood Development), an EcoDistricts Accredited Professional, an Envision™ Sustainability Professional, and a Certified Energy Manager.
Christopher previously served as an Urban Design Co-Chair at the APA New York Metro Chapter, a Mentor at the URBAN-X city solutions accelerator, a Young Fellow at the Urban Design Forum, and an On-Call Advisor to STAR Communities.
